Hi, I’m Nora! 😊

When Gordon and I moved here from Northern California, we were excited to discover a ukulele group in Vancouver! About eight years ago, a friend invited me to visit her ukulele group. I’d never played before, but she loaned me her extra uke and off we went.

Like our Firstenburg group, my friend’s group was fun and supportive, and I discovered that the uke was user-friendly. I kept attending but soon wanted to play songs with more chords and strums. As a result, “Back in the USSR” became my go-to for exciting energy, and Bowie’s “Space Oddity” is a favorite full of memories of our daughters’ teen years.

My tip for new ukulele players, is to keep coming and have fun, and if you need a little help or motivation, invite someone from the group to practice with you. I love watching newcomers blossom as they connect with their ukuleles and fellow players! 🌺😊🎶
